The first varsity track season at Christian Life School is now in the books. I had one boy qualify for state in the 1600 meters, he was the 4th seed in a race of 16 runners. It was a great race to watch, as they went out in a herd, bumping and pushing all finding their position on the track for a slow first lap. As the race progressed my runner found himself in last place at which point he started to make his move, moving his way through the field over the next lap he put himself in a position to start his kick. In the end he passed twelve runners to finish 4th and earn his place on the podium!
As I have found myself winding down from the track, I am also ramping up for cross country season! We have started our captians' practices this week, with great turnouts both days. In addition to the high school runners, I have started a middle school XC team for 2013 and excited to see so many middle schoolers at practice and many parents are also coming to the work outs and joining in on the fun! Will be a great summer of XC running and team activities, as we have road races on the schedule, two Christian Concerts on the calendar and several team parties!
I ran the Racine Lighthouse 10 miler over this past weekend, which was a last minute decision as I was signing up my son! I have only been running twice a week at best the past 3-4 weeks. I have been running this race since 1995, but this would be the first time I would be running it to only enjoy it. Running the first mile in 8:26, allowed my knees to get a little warmed up and by mile two (8:09) was feeling decent and then a voice called my name as I was passing another runner. I slowed down and waited, it was a friend and we started to talk and we ran together the next eight miles, was at a pace a little slower than I planned, but was a perfect pace, conversation and race.
The www.kenosharunningcompany.com is coming along, as I have mentioned previously, we are currently an Amazon Associate partner and I have put a great store together of all types of running related products; books, videos, nutrition, shoes, clothing, etc.... when time permits do a little window shopping!
thanks for sharing a few minutes and until our next run... have some fun!

Where do I start!
Has been a couple weeks since my first blog attempt, lets hope this one goes a little smoother!
This is my first season coaching a varsity boys and girls track team and dealing with all the season ending track meets, trying to get in quality work outs and keeping my kids healthy! When you have a small and diverse team the challenges and the enjoyments are many. This team was filled with many first year athletes finding there way, regional champ, sectional qualifiers and our first state qualifier. He will run on June 1st, competing in the 1600m, where he is the 4th seed.
Even thou the track season is not over, I had our first cross country meeting last Tuesday, and was very excited to see so many new faces and to announce we would have our first middle school cross country team! We have a great summer running and workout program planned for all abilities and several fun team activities in the works. Will be a great summer!
I have been running for 39 years and for most of those years I was always been training for something, a road race, track meet, marathon, ultra or a triathlon....now at 51 with less than a happy knee, I find myself not training for anything! I do not need to have a goal to run and work out, but the willingness to push myself during runs and workouts is lacking. So I am looking for the next challenge......
Has been about a month since I introduced www.kenosharunningcompany.com and still finding my way and having some fun with it. We are an Amazon Partner and have selected all the products a runner would desire!!! From great shoes to chia seeds and yes everything in between! So when you are looking for running related products, stop by our site and give us a try. I would love to open a store in Kenosha at some point in the future and this is a way to see if a market for these products is out there.
Would enjoy hearing from you, kenosharunningco@gmail.com
until our next run together! Brian Thomas

Step One!
It amazing how ideas and dreams can come to life when you put yourself in a position to make them happen. I have lived in kenosha for 18 years, wondering why there is not a store specifically for runners, cities much smaller than Kenosha have similar stores. So when technology and timing combined, www.kenosharunningcompany.com was born in April 2013. This is a Amazon Associate Partnership Store, which means I can select as many high quality products from all the products listed on Amazon, create a store and extend to you all the running gear you need and WANT!
Another passion, dream and desire of mine has been coaching cross country and track. I coached previously while living in Indiana at Hanover Jr - Sr High School and Lowell Middle School in the late 80's and early/ mid 90's. After my son Quin, became interested in running cross country in the middle of his freshman soccer season, the door was open. I have been coaching cross country and track and Kenosah Christian Life School for the past two years. Loving every moment!
I will be sharing the the progress of the Kenosha Running Company, Coaching at CLS and some of my own running adventures in Future Blogs.... I intend to post one blog per week over the weekend.
Thank you for your time and interest.... I can be reached anytime at kenosharunningco@gmail.com
My best, Brian Thomas
